About the SAT

The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is an entrance examination used by many colleges in the United States as part of the admissions decisions and process. Created by College Board, the test consists of multiple-choice questions and an essay to be done with pencil and paper.
The purpose of the SAT test is to measure if a high school student is academically ready for higher education. College Admissions officers will also evaluate a student’s GPA (grade point average) personal statement and supplementary essays, recommendation letters from teachers and mentors, extracurricular activities, and admission interviews.
